Currently, the first-ever Chevrolet Blazer EV model is being produced at General Motors’ renowned Ramos Arizpe facility in Mexico and is on its way to the United States.

The First Blazer EV Arrives in North America

According to the latest report by Vanguardia MX, a reputable news outlet in Mexico, the esteemed Chevrolet Blazer EV, manufactured at GM’s prominent Ramos Arizpe plant, has left its production site and is currently en route to the United States.

The announcement comes exactly two weeks after the facility’s social media post, revealing the successful completion of the inaugural market-ready Blazer EV’s assembly process.

Tereso Medina Ramirez, the General Secretary of the Confederation of Workers of Mexico (CTM), revealed that GM’s Ramos Arizpe facility is currently reaching an impressive production rate of 65 Blazer EV models per hour. Furthermore, he confirmed that the first shipment of the new electric SUV had already been sent to the United States.

Medina Ramirez expressed his thoughts on this remarkable  achievement, stating:

“Since last week, we were very pleased to see that the first Blazer under construction left for the United States, the first order, we are already working on it, for the foreign market.”

Amid these developments, Medina Ramirez asserted that the precise date for the inaugural departure of the Equinox EV from the complex remains undetermined as of now.

According to Medina Ramirez’s report, the GM Ramos Arizpe complex has a workforce capacity of 4,000 employees, with a dedicated segment of 2,000 individuals exclusively focused on producing electric vehicles.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV is scheduled to be offered in five distinct trims, which include the 1LT, 2LT, RS, a specialized Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) edition, and Chevy’s pioneering SS electric performance model. GM’s estimations suggest that the Blazer EV will provide a range of 247 to 320 miles, depending on the chosen trim.

Initially, the release plan for the Blazer EV SS in North America indicated a scheduled launch for this fall. However, a recent update on Chevrolet’s website suggests a slight adjustment to the timeline, with the performance version now expected to be available for purchase in the upcoming spring season.

In the meantime, customers will continue to have the opportunity to purchase the 2LT model, starting at $47,595 (plus destination fee), and the RS version, with a starting price of $51,995 (plus destination fee), during the upcoming summer season.

The Chevy Blazer EV boasts several notable features, such as a premium interior adorned with ample soft-touch materials throughout its two rows of seats, ensuring a comfortable and refined driving experience. It further enhances the driving experience with an 11-inch digital gauge display that seamlessly integrates with a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen interface. Notably, the front air vents exhibit jet engine-inspired design elements. At the same time, the RS and SS trims provide the option of an optional flat-bottom steering wheel, paying homage to their racing heritage.
