Exciting Details On The Upcoming 2024 Chevy E-Ray

The Chevy Corvette has been a significant figure in the history of American sports cars. The first-ever Vette car dating back to 1953, won the hearts of car lovers everywhere, particularly fans of sporty vehicles.

This time around, the Corvette nameplate is making some headway for 2024 as it transitions into the electric E-Ray. Here’s what you need to know.

The All-New 2024 Chevy E-Ray

Once called the Stingray is now the electric E-Ray. Chevrolet’s parent company, General Motors, already trademarked the moniker in 2015, then renewed it in August 2020. While trademarks don’t always make it to the production phase, it’s highly plausible the automaker will bring the E-Ray to the city streets.

What To Know About The Engine

Concerning the new powertrain, the car manufacturer is keeping things under wraps. Despite this, there are rumors that this electrified Corvette might use the same 6.2-liter V8 engine from the current C8 Corvette but with the inclusion of either one or two electric motors. The format of these motors could lead to an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. More than likely, the output will be near 650 horsepower.

By virtue of the electric motors and the possible AWD, the E-Ray will invite much more performance than the traditional Vette car. Subject to how powerful the electric motors are, this Stingray iteration may be even faster with 60 mph than the Corvette Z06.

Just What Type Of Electric Vehicle Is It?

It’s expected that the all-new Corvette E-Ray a hybrid of some sort, like a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) variation, as they have similar components. However, PHEVs have larger battery packs that enable them to journey longer distances on fully electrified power. These types of hybrids can also get their power at a regular charging station, while hybrid vehicles get their juice from regenerative braking. On the inside, images of the vehicle’s configurator showed a “Regen on Demand” button. This suggests that the car will have varying levels of regenerative braking.

We can determine that the first iteration of the E-Ray won’t be fully electric, as the car manufacturer has already confirmed that an all-electric version will be coming in the future.

Exterior Upgrades

Regarding the aesthetics, the leaked images of the 2024 E-Ray revealed that this fast-paced car doesn’t differentiate much from the regular Corvette. Although the front fascia has a matching style to the Z06, the leaked images from the automaker’s configurator showed somewhat refined front fins on the fascia. From the rear end, there should be quad exhaust outlets that retreat from the side of the car, together with the added vents on the rear bumper.

We should also anticipate unique exterior paint colors in the E-Ray, involving Cacti Green, Sea Wolf gray, and a new variation of blue.
