The 2023 Chevrolet Equinox Gets A Seal Of Approval From Consumer Reports
Consumer Reports
The Chevy Equinox crossover isn’t just a best-selling SUV of the bow-tie brand; it’s also the company’s second best-selling vehicle before the Silverado. A moment ago, the non-profit product testing site, Consumer Reports, gave the 2023 Chevy Equinox a “recommended” rating.
A few different tests resulted in this rating:
- Road test rating – 77/100
- Owner satisfaction rating – 3/5
- Predicated reliability rating – 3/5
These three categories resulted in an overall score of 67 out of 100 points.
For performance, Consumer Reports gave the Equinox crossover a 4/5 for transmission and braking and a 3/5 for acceleration and emergency handling. The former Consumers Union mentioned that the SUV offered good road manners, though they gathered that the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LSD gasoline engine seemed to lack refinement.
As for Owner Satisfaction, owners rated the driving experience as 68/100. Comfort obtained 64/100, while value got 56/100.
Concerning reliability, the Equinox SUV obtained a score of 46/100. Bearing in mind other vehicles in its segment, this puts the crossover near the bottom half, outranking competitors like the Ford Escape Hybrid and Tesla Model Y with scores of 42/100 and 38/100, respectively.
In essence, Chevrolet faired well in Consumer Reports’ latest rankings. Besides the Equinox, four other 2023 Chevy models, such as the Chevy C8 Corvette, Chevy Blazer, Chevy Trailblazer, and Chevy Traverse, acquired a recommended rating.
It’s worth mentioning that the newest Chevy Equinox obtained its most significant advancement by applying the aforementioned LSD engine. The all-new powertrain has a respectable output of 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque, switching out the turbocharged 1.5L I4 LYX gasoline motor. All the same, parent company General Motor’s same 6–speed automatic transmission found in previous model years of the SUV acts as the only transmission option.
Concerning the structure, the Chevy Equinox journeys on GM’s D2 platform. Production commenced on August 22nd at the GM San Luis Potosí plant and the GM Ramos Arizpe plant.
