2024 Chevy Blazer Receives New U.S EV Tax Credit
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is now eligible for the new U.S Clean Vehicle Tax Credit. After facing ineligibility due to revised U.S. Treasury regulations, the all-electric mid-size SUV can now be purchased with a $7,500 tax rebate. General Motors has recently announced those who purchase the newly produced Chevrolet Blazer EV will be able to benefit from the new EV tax credit. The automaker is now sourcing its batteries solely from North America which is one of the stipulations to be eligible for the credit. Under the Clean Vehicle Credit, buyers can claim the full $7,500 within three days of purchasing their EV, provided the batteries are sourced from North America. Fortunately, General Motors has proactively ensured compliance with this requirement. Some of the automaker’s EVs do use battery components sourced from elsewhere so we’ll take a closer look at the new Clean Vehicle Credit and see what consumers can expect.
Chevy Blazer Eligible for Clean Vehicle Credit
General Motors (GM) is now offering consumers a $7,500 EV tax credit for the purchase of a newly produced 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV. While the mid-size SUV was previously eligible for the EV credit, due to new U.S. Treasury regulations, only EVs powered by batteries sourced entirely from North America can qualify for the new Clean Vehicle Credit. General Motors addressed this development during its fourth quarter 2023 earnings presentation. The automaker confirmed that the Chevrolet Blazer EV would be manufactured using North America-sourced batteries to meet the criteria for the new EV Tax Credit.
Those who purchase the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will qualify for the new Clean Vehicle Credit, which provides a $7,500 tax allowance. Unlike the original EV tax credit, buyers utilizing this new credit can apply it immediately, rather than having to wait for a tax return the following year. This system was implemented by the U.S. Treasury on January 1st. Dealers can also expect reimbursement within three days of purchase.
For vehicles that do not meet the Clean Vehicle Credit criteria, General Motors is still offering reduced pricing through a rebate program called the GM Ultium Promise. This program, available until June 3rd, 2024, offers a $7,500 rebate for Blazer EV units that do not have batteries fully sourced from North America. With a starting MSRP of $35,400 (plus destination fee), the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is an attractive option for those interested in transitioning to EVs. The highly capable and versatile SUV is made even more affordable with the $7,500 tax credit. Enthusiasts may want to hold off, however, as Chevrolet has hinted at a refreshed 2025 Blazer EV on the horizon. Stay tuned for further updates.
